Calibration - What is the Cost of a Sticker?
Posted in Test Equipment Calibration
Calibration is, of course, more than just a sticker and certificate, but the truth is that not all calibrations are equal. While price and turn-around time are easy to measure, pricing pressures on service providers might cause end users to ask if they are getting what they really expect or need.
Here are a few discussion points that might help you better understand your calibration provider and what they are doing for you.
- What calibration procedure is being followed?
- Breadth of functions and number of measurement points being verified?
- What calibration standards are being used?
- Completeness and rigor of quality control system?
- Scope of accreditation?
After discussion with your cal lab, you might find that you’re getting less - or more - than you actually expect or need. Your lab should be open and forthright in these discussions, and also flexible to deliver a solution which meets your real quality needs. Are they?
